ROLE

The Inventory Accounting Analyst is a new position that will be instrumental in achieving key financial targets and our successful transition to a new ERP. This role will maintain accurate, real-time records of all inventory (both at our warehouse and at our 3rd party processors) as well as accurate tracking of the COGS from every LOT manufactured. This position reports to our Director of Finance and Accounting and will work closely with our Sales, Supply Chain and Operations teams. Ideal candidates will be exceptionally organized, detail oriented, have excellent communication skills, and poses a customer focus mindset.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Maintain and execute analytical reviews to ensure completeness, accuracy, and proper valuation of inventory, item records and Cost of Goods
  • Provide accounting support to business as assigned
  • Under guidance from management & leadership create inventory targets, monitoring / analyzing expected performance, assisting with the coordination of next steps with cross functional teams
  • Maintain Data integrity within ERP including but not limited to item setup, costs, pricing, inventory accuracy. Audit data flow and address issues that arise due to incorrect entries.

 

DAILY OVERSIGHT AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide support for costing issues related to data processing of the purchase of inventory.
  • Work across departments to monitor inventory levels with expected Customer demand.
  • Work collaboratively within and across departments to identify and develop process improvements that lead to more accurate, efficient, and sustainable outcomes.
  • Support proactive analysis of various reports to deliver accurate and timely information.
  • Perform purchasing data reviews, audit, and monitor daily purchase order and accounts payable reports.
  • Address and resolve receiving, invoice, and purchase order issues; audit invoices as requested.
  • Maintain inventory levels to achieve target service levels (Fill Rate and On-Time delivery) while minimizing distribution costs and reducing product obsolescence for assigned product categories.
  • Ensure all accounting activities are completed with the highest level of control and integrity.
  • Resolve purchasing order discrepancies with Operations and Purchasing Teams.
  • Execute or assist with correcting receiving discrepancies and verifying discrepancies of drop-ship orders.
  • Utilize planning techniques to predict and plan future demand on inventory.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED BY THE POSITION

  • Superior knowledge of product costing, inventory management
  • Minimum 3 years experience in inventory control
  • Knowledge and experience working in food manufacturing/distribution especially with fresh and further processed meat a plus

  • Experience working with an integrated ERP system

Hickory Nut Gap’s growth goals for the coming 18 – 24 months are aggressive and will require additional in-house marketing direction to achieve them. The Marketing Director will be critical to our success as more focus will be put on marketing and branding beginning in early 2022. This position will be responsible for developing marketing & brand strategies for the company as well as guiding activation and implementation of all the marketing initiatives at the company. This position reports to the CEO and will liaise internally with sales, operations, and finance teams as well as externally with the marketing agency, website team, social media/content producers, and retail/food service customers.


Key Accountabilities

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required For The Position

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related.
  • 8+ years of experience in progressive marketing communication roles. Food industry experience highly preferred.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while efficiently and effectively managing competing priorities.

INTRODUCTION

This Retail Sales Associate position works out of the farm store at Hickory Nut Gap Farm (HNG Farm) in Fairview, North Carolina.

HNG Farm provides a full customer experience through retail butchery, local goods stores, and farm tours/events.

This position provides customer support activities under the advice of the General Manager at HNG Farm store. The sales associate works to ensure that the retail store is operating at an efficient and high quality level, customers are delighted with both product and service outputs, and they are communicating effectively to execute all tasks.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Pack orders with accuracy
  • Assist customers in store and at pickup
  • Maintain store cleanliness and upkeep

DAILY OVERSIGHT AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the store Manager in packing online orders
  • Deliver orders to customers
  • Assist in daily inventory management of all products when needed

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Pack orders
  • Assist in inventory management
  • Receive product from and load trucks daily
  • Rotate product between cooler and freezer
  • Help pick up customers/ customer service

INTRODUCTION

HNG Meats provides wholesale meats, sales and delivery services to restaurants, grocers, institutions, and distributors around the southeast USA.  

This position provides support to HNG customers, manages orders and inventory, and works with the sales, finance and warehouse team. The incumbent works to complete tasks daily and assist customers for HNG Meats.  


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Manage all incoming HNG orders with accuracy 
  • Manage timely weekly and monthly inventory reconciliation reporting  
  • Manage inventory reduction sales 
  • Provide exemplary customer service support to all HNG customers

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Manage all Purchase Orders for HNG Meats  
  • Work with Sales Team to complete weekly orders each week which includes working directly with customers.  
  • Ensure customer invoices are timely and accurate  
  • Assist with A/R collections and reporting 
  • Manage weekly and monthly inventory reconciliation reporting 
  • Manage weekly and monthly reporting for sales, warehouse and finance team 
  • Assist with volume sales internally
  • Assist sales, finance and warehouse teams with additional work as needed

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED BY THE POSITION  

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite 
  • Intermediate to Advanced Knowledge of Excel 
  • Knowledge of Food Distribution, especially Fresh Meats a plus 
  • Knowledge of ERP software a plus 
  • Experience with QuickBooks. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. 
  • Demonstrated ability to function effectively as a team member with strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to maintain harmonious relationships. 
  • Excellent customer service skills. 
  • Good at juggling multiple tasks and prioritizing tasks; ability to work on multiple projects concurrently, ensuring deliverables are completed on time, are of the highest quality, and enhance the reputation of the HNG Meats brand.  
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

INTRODUCTION 

The Key Account Manager is based out of the Hickory Nut Gap Meats warehouse in Flat Rock, NC. The position primarily works from home/remote and on the road.

The Key Account Manager coordinates collaboration among departments to manage current accounts and new business. The role requires regular travel, primarily within the region, to retail and distribution partners.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Develop and nurture relationships with key customers. Acts as primary point-of-contact and also responsible for demonstrating that each customer is fully supported by a collaborative team – including CEO, Marketing, Operations and Finance.
  • P&L (Profit & Loss) and forecasting responsibility for assigned customers. To be measured against revenue, margin, profitability, inventory, and forecast variances.
  • Develop and execute plans for long-term growth. Have a clearly defined approach and playbook for expanding sales with existing customers and acquiring new accounts.

DAILY OVERSIGHT AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Primary point-of-contact to build and maintain rapport with key customers and distributors. Brings in other departments to provide a collaborative approach to sales relationships.
  • Negotiates price, terms, and orders with guidance from the Leadership team
  • Proposes and develops measurable trade promotions, collaborating and seeking input from Marketing, Operations and Finance. 
  • Collaborates with Marketing to assess needs and drive velocity at existing customers.
  • Develops and maintains effective sales forecasting approach. Coordinates with Operations team to ensure effective production planning.
  • Updates utilization document for each harvest with regular sales forecasts for assigned customers.
  • Develops and maintains a sales calendar. This includes category reviews, business reviews and other key events for assigned customers.
  • Project manage onboarding of new business through collaboration with other departments.
  • Provides weekly reporting to Director of Marketing & Sales with updates on existing customers and progress of leads.
  • Works with Director of Marketing & Sales to build annual sales plan.
  • Leads inter-departmental collaboration for new customer onboarding needs.
  • Provides customer insights to internal team to inform Pricing, Shopper Marketing, and other business decisions. 
  • Conducts regular price Surveys at assigned customers and broader competitors.
  • Participates in trade shows and other customer/sales events.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED BY THE POSITION  

  • 5+ years sales experience in perishable food sales, ideally within the meat industry.
  • Experience with distribution partners and brokers preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills required.  
  • Demonstrated ability to function effectively as a team member with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently with quality outputs.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while efficiently and effectively managing competing priorities.
  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to travel regularly.
  • Microsoft Excel experience required.
