Heritage breeds ensure high quality genetics that lead to tender, flavorful, and well marbled meat. As with all HNG animals, our hogs are never given antibiotics or added hormones. We provide our hogs with a free-choice grain feed to meet their dietary needs, and they also root for grubs and saplings on pasture.
We focus on the wellbeing of the animal — allowing the pigs to exhibit their natural behaviors, free from confinement. Low stress handling techniques lead to higher quality meat and more humane treatment of the animals. Hogs raised on pasture eat a more diverse diet than those raised in confinement and result in meat that is more nutritious and delicious. Hogs are also exceptional at soil aeration, pasture maintenance, and shrub clearing. They are the farm’s natural tractor plows.
