Dan was raised in Winston-Salem for most of his life. He was always interested in art and food.
He went to Guilford Tech in Greensboro for graphic design and commercial art. At Forsyth Tech in NC he studied nano-technology and received an AS in nano-tech, but has always maintained his artistic bent.
He has worked in all sorts of jobs- a true jack of all trades. He’s been a janitor, a handy-man, cooked at various restaurants and consistently pursued graphic design and painting. He has a mural on the ceiling of Mary’s Gourmet Diner in Winston-Salem.
He moved to Swannanoa in 2016 with his partner Shari for new opportunities. His work has been on display at local galleries, including ZaPow. He now works in our kitchen, still keeping an oar in the graphic design world, still passionate about art. His favorite parts about working at HNG is learning new cooking techniques, eating delicious ribs, his friendships with the team and every day interactions with our customers. He helps educate a lot of folks who come through these doors on what’s good.
