Amy was born and raised in Asheville on a small farm outside of town that her parents have owned since 1969.
She grew up with horses, beef cattle, chickens, pigs, rabbits, and small vegetable gardens. Amy loved horses as a little girl and grew up to enjoy regular farm and animal care as one of her favorite outdoor activities along with hiking with her Cattle dog mix, Ruthie. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics/Finance from UNC Asheville, and started working as a bookkeeper in 2002. After living in Atlanta for several years, Amy returned to Asheville and completed a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Financial Accounting from UNCA in 2012.
Amy joined the Hickory Nut Gap team in 2016, and enjoys having the opportunity to combine her local roots and appreciation for sustainable agriculture through her accounting career.
