10 years and 3 kids later we have finally launched our online shopping cart, https://www.hickorynutgapfarm.com/cart/, a new convenient way to have our meat delivered to your doorstep. We have some great package deals like “Steaks on a Budget” ($60) and the BBQ Lovers ($40) as well as individual cuts available for purchse. Another great way to source local meat you can trust to feed your family right. We often hear that its hard to get out to the farm to come buy meat. No excuses people- grab your phone or your computer and cross meat off your grocery list in 5 seconds we are now open 7 days a week 24 hours a day online. Try it out, let us know what you think. Fathers Day is around the corner, dazzle Dad with a grassfed steak or stock up the freezer for that unexpected guest you’re about to feed.
Pasture raised chicken is the perfect meat to come around the table to with family. I often roast two at a time so I can have some leftover to feed the farm crew the next day for lunch. One of our freedom rangers (that’s the breed of chicken) will feed about five people. If you’re not quite a family of five – fear not- you can easily cut these whole birds into pieces and just freeze the portion you aren’t using. The best thing about buying one chicken is it gets you three meals, dinner that night, lunch the next day and stock for soup in the freezer. You can’t go wrong! We have kept out prices the same $3.50/lb for a farm raised chicken, come on by and bring some home today. Or even come on SATURDAY during our new expanded farm store hours. Now open Wednesday through Friday 1-5 and Saturday 10-5pm. Hope to see you there or here http://www.facebook.com/hickorynutgapmeats with updates on where to get our meat each week at Asheville restaurants.
On June 25th and 26th (1-6pm both days) Hickory Nut Gap Farm will be one of 41 farms opening their doors for a guided tour of our livelihoods. Ever wonder what a pig on pasture does, what rotational grazing is all about, or what it takes to finish an animal on grass? Stop in and learn a little more about your food, your farmer and the new exciting adventures we are planning at our farm for next season. (Shh, is an organic berry upick) Bring your cooler, we’ll have plenty of meat for sale. http://www.asapconnections.org/thefamilyfarmtour.html
Also on the tour we will be hosting child and family photographer, Jesseca Bellemare, who is offering complimentary mini photo sessions with Hickory Nut Gap Farm baby chicks on Saturday, June 25th from 1-6pm .
